Tune-up your Android device and keep it safe from malicious files
AMC Security combines a maintenance toolkit and security suite. It offers some TLC for your Android device, protecting it from viruses and malware, securing your data, helping you to manage your apps, and plenty more.
What you can do with AMC Security
IObit is a company that is well known to many Windows users. It makes comprehensive maintenance and security suites for PCs, like Advanced SystemCare Ultimate. While AMC Security for Android isn't as comprehensive as its PC tools, it still offers a ton of great features.
The first thing you're greeted with in AMC Security is a large "Scan" button. Press it and the program will quickly scan your device for any problems it may be having. This includes a malware scan, junk and cache files. AMC Security offers realtime protection so apps that you download and install will be scanned for malware.
There's a separate antivirus scanner, also with realtime protection. You can choose to make a fast scan or a deep scan. The latter of these can take a long time, so you'll need some patience.
AMC Security also comes with an app manager and task killer. You can set the task killer to automatically kill all unnecessary apps at a certain interval. Alternatively, you can select individual tasks to be killed. You can select apps you want to uninstall, although you won't be able to uninstall them at all once, and must click the delete option for each one when it appears.
One interesting addition in AMC Security is the inclusion of a game optimizer. All your games are automatically added to a list but you can add more if AMC Security failed to recognize a game. Launching a game from AMC Security will start a quick optimization procedure and your games should run faster afterward (although it's not always apparent).
There is also a battery manager that will help you create presets of settings to activate during specific times. AMC Security also contains time estimates about how long your battery will last and how long it will take to charge.
The suite includes a locker for you to store your photos, videos, and files. This function works well and password protects these sensitive files. It's a bit disappointing that Advanced Mobile Care doesn't include a way to lock out specific applications from being accessed.
Other features in AMC Security's mighty toolbox include Call and SMS blocking, Cloud Backup, and an Anti-Theft solution that allows you to detect where your device is if it gets lost or stolen.
The feature set in AMC Security is impressive, especially as most of them are available for free. There's a free trial too, so you can try all the premium features for size.
Sleek and easy to use
Security software and performance utilties can often be tarnished by ugly, cluttered user interfaces. I'm pleased to report this isn't the case with AMC Security. In fact, the design of the app is both pleasing on the eye, and easy to work with.
Option icons are large and attractive, and there's plenty of in-app information that explains what AMC Security is doing to your device at various points in the processes.
Perhaps the one improvement that could be made to the interface would be to show the percentage complete/time remaining on the progress bar when scanning, especially as scans can take time.
A complete maintenance kit
AMC Security really does offer everything you need to keep your phone or tablet running smoothly, protect it from viruses and malware, and to keep your data safe. It's easy to use and most of the main features are available for free. Highly recommended for anyone who cherishes their Android device.
